Original Owners: Shingle Warranty Repair information from Loretta O'Flynn:

On Mar 12, 2010, at 8:12 AM, Loretta O'Flynn wrote:

Hello CRHA Board (and former) Members,

I know I am missing at least Leo on this list, but wanted to tell as many current and former board members as possible what I learned about our homes' shingle warranty. This is a warranty repair issue. What we might be eligible for is a warranty from the manufacturer, IKO. You must be an original owner to file a claim (sorry Shannon, Kevin, Tom, etc.). Yesterday I filed a claim; they will send me a packet telling me what I need to do. Sounds like they will need numerous photos (which can be digital--you just have to print and snail-mail them), 2 full shingle sheets, proof that you are the original owner, etc.

Our roof is in terrible shape, so 2010 is our year to replace it. Sad that it only lasted 10 years. If IKO finds that there is a legitimate claim, they would cut the homeowner a check for the value of the pro-rated years left on the warranty for materials only, no labor. It should take 30-60 days to process the claim. I am happy to jump through the hoops to see if they will warranty their product. The customer service rep I spoke with yesterday was very helpful. Information below:

I called IKO with the phone number you gave me (800-433-2811, Customer Service), and the lady emailed me the proper 3-page document as an attachment (below). Can you please update the website with that attachment?

Sidewalk Repairs

A red dot mark is township's responsibility to repair. A green dot marking is the home owner.s responsibility. In the spring you will receive a letter along with an estimate to have the townships contractors fix the concrete. The estimated cost is $75 per slab. You need to let the township know if you plan to use their contractors or your own to avoid penalties and fees. More info is on the township website:

Safety in the Neighborhood

With school ending for the summer, warmer weather and longer days we will all be spending more time outside. Please do your part to help keep the neighborhood a safe place for us all. There have been some robberies lately and a recent stranger scare in our area. Please be a good neighbor and watch for any suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Please drive responsibly.
